Welcome to Land Of Illinois Parrot RESCUE 

We are a small, family oriented rescue, and we choose to stay that way for a reason. Every bird deserves individual attention, interaction, patience, and love. By keeping our rescue small, we are able to spend one-on-one time with each parrot and truly get to know their personality, needs, and behaviors.

We are not an ordinary rescue focused on taking in as many birds as possible. Our goal is to make every bird in our care feel like they are part of a family not like they are living in a rescue facility.

Many parrots come to us after experiencing major changes in their lives. We want their time with us to feel safe, comfortable, and as close to a real home environment as possible while they prepare for their next chapter.

At Land of Illinois Parrot Rescue, it is about quality of care, not quantity of birds.

🦜 Our Story

Land of Illinois Parrot Rescue was founded on a simple but powerful belief: every parrot deserves a safe environment, proper care, and the opportunity to live a healthy, enriched life.

Our journey began with a single bird Rocky, an African Grey whose story opened our eyes to the complex needs of parrots in captivity. Like many parrots, Rocky came from a background of neglect and required time, structure, and specialized care to begin rebuilding trust.

Through consistent routines, appropriate nutrition, enrichment, and a calm environment, Rocky gradually progressed. Her behavior improved, her confidence grew, and she began to engage in a way that reflected both her intelligence and emotional depth. This experience reinforced what many in the avian community understand: parrots are highly intelligent, social animals that require long-term commitment and informed care.

Rocky’s impact extended beyond her individual recovery. She became the foundation for our mission and highlighted the need for responsible rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming practices. Her journey demonstrated the importance of patience, education, and proper placement in achieving successful outcomes for companion parrots.

Today, Land of Illinois Parrot Rescue is committed to

Ensuring thoughtful, appropriate placement through a structured adoption process

Rocky’s legacy continues to guide our work. Her story serves as a reminder that with proper care, stability, and understanding, parrots can recover, adapt, and thrive.

At Land of Illinois Parrot Rescue, this mission is deeply personal. As a special needs family, we understand the patience, dedication, and unconditional care it takes to support individuals with unique needs and that same compassion is at the heart of how we care for every parrot who comes through our doors.

Parrots are highly intelligent, emotional beings, and many of the birds we rescue come from difficult situations neglect, trauma, medical challenges, or behavioral struggles. These birds aren’t “too much”… they just need the right environment, understanding, and commitment to help them heal.

We specialize in giving second chances to parrots who need a little extra time, a little extra patience, and a lot of love. From medical rehabilitation to emotional recovery, we meet each bird exactly where they are and help them rebuild trust at their own pace.

Because we live this life every day, we know that progress doesn’t happen overnight and that’s okay. Healing takes time, consistency, and heart. And that’s exactly what we provide.
