Parrot Adoption Process
Welcome to the Parrot Adoption Process page at Land Of Illinois Parrot Rescue. Our main goal is to help these intelligent and vibrant birds find loving and caring homes. If you are considering adopting a parrot, you are in the right place. Read on to learn about our adoption process and how you can make a difference in the life of a feathered friend. Before applying We NEVER place birds with SMOKERS,BREEDERS! We do NOT SHIP BIRDS.WE ALWAYS DO HOME VISITS TO MAKE SURE ALL PARROTS ARE SAFE FROM ANY HAZARDS.
Application Process
To begin the adoption process, you will need to fill out an application form. This form helps us understand your living situation, experience with birds, and preferences for the type of parrot you are interested in. Once we receive your application, we will review it and contact you to discuss potential matches. Application is at the bottom of this page.
Home Visit
As part of our adoption process, we conduct a home visit to ensure that your living environment is suitable for a parrot. This visit also allows us to provide guidance on creating a safe and enriching space for your new feathered companion. We believe in finding the perfect match between parrot and adopter.
How long does it take to adopt a parrot?
Adopting a parrot is not usually a same-day process and that’s a good thing.
Parrots are highly intelligent, emotional animals who form deep bonds. Because of this, adoption can take time, patience, and multiple visits to ensure the right match for both the bird and the adopter.
Some parrots connect quickly, while others may need several meetings to feel safe and comfortable. In many cases, it may take multiple visits over weeks or even months before a bird chooses their person.
At Land of Illinois Parrot Rescue, we believe:
